CPAC updates...
Hey guys - I am back at the Marriott - so I will be updating this post over the next 15 mins w/ brief observations from CPAC this morning... (and scarfing down a Starbucks salad w/ no fork. Argh)
Duncan Hunter - A count myself a politico and had never heard of Hunter until about a month ago when he entered the race. Hunter was a very competent speaker and addressed trade w/ China, "peace through strength," and border security. He also pledged as President to pardon the famous convicted Border patrol agents. And to my chagrin, he made a deratory cut at consultants ;)
Mike Huckabee - Huckabee gave a looong, but comprehensive speech that was well received. He threw a couple elbows talking about politicians who had multiple "road to damascas" conversions on conservative issues. Huck said he was a fiscal conservative and pledged to sign Grover Norquist's no tax pledge this afternoon.
Rudy - The auditorium was so packed a had to watch Rudy's speech in the exhibitor hall. I was surpised at the rising ovation Rudy received. He talked about unifying on national security despite our differences. This is the first time I've seen Rudy talk in person. I was impressed.
Other notes - Brownback & Romney supporters everywhere. I have seen no Huckabee folks. Newt was walking around this morning too... A small but noticable Gilmore presence is here as well. Off to see brownback & romney...
